Biograd is the second biggest town of the Zadar riviera. It was mentioned for the first time in the 10th century, and it become the residence of Croatian Kings in the 11th century. The core of the old settlement was situated on a smaller peninsula, while a part of the town walls was preserved up to a hundred years ago. The modern Biograd spread from that nucleus along the coast and the pine woods. It has become the popular summer resort with comfortable hotels situated close to beautiful beaches.
